    NO INSURANCE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - ENTRY LEVEL. In this highly visible position, you will be a Underwriting Specialist for the Underwriting department.  In this energetic role, you will be entering statistical information for applications, quotes, change requests and renewals after an underwriter has approved them.  You will be processing driver’s lists, cancellations and reporting forms entering statistical information and computing premiums for all lines of commercial business using the ACL (automated commercial lines) system. You will be deciding which files to refer back to the underwriter for review; assist underwriters with information gathering and written correspondence and handle overflow of incoming calls when possible. Your primary goal is to produce quality technical assistance, agents and coworkers and to meet service standards.


    • Data entry working on various computer systems from correspondence. This includes updating renewals, change requests, cancellations, reporting forms and the initial entry for applications and quotes
    • Obtain information needed for underwriting decisions including deciding what needs to be referred back to the underwriter
    • Write or call agents for additional or missing information
    • Using ImageRight, perform file setup and organization of electronically stored documents
    • Assist underwriters with information gathering and written correspondence
    • Handle overflow calls coming to the underwriting team
    • Review incoming tasks and either complete them or forward to appropriate team member
    • Assist with general questions from team and coworkers
    • Perform other duties as assigned



    • Phase One: Your training will include learning all lines of rating; auto property, liability, crime, inland marine, business owners and umbrella
    • Phase Two: Your training will then cover processing renewals, reporting form and cancellations




    • You must have:
      • Possess strong analytical and math skills
      • Proven to have accurate keyboard/calculator and professional phone skills
      • Excel; Word and Internet search/navigation skills.


    Education Requirements:

      • Must have a minimum of a High School diploma
      • Preferred to also have a College Education and/or General Insurance Classes
