    OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT: 

    Hands-down, managing litigation is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in insurance claims, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Litigation Specialist position waiting for that driven claims professional who’s known to also be a litigation guru!   In this highly visible role, you’ll be collaborating with the department supervisors and managers on the handling of more complex files to directly help impact the bottom line for controlling expenses and indemnity.

     

    Responsibilities

    • The Litigation Specialist will expertly investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve a satisfying variety of complex and/or litigated claims
    • Conduct coverage analysis, review work product, determine reserves and settlement values within company guidelines, and continuously execute technical expertise as required by the complexity of the claim
    • Will be in direct communication and provide regular status updates where expected with local and corporate managers
    • Provide direction, control and guidance to defense counsel while fostering a strong partnership 
    • Successful management of cumulative litigation expenses incurred, in order to achieve expense reduction
    • Attend and actively participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
    • Keep apprised of changes in law and court procedures affecting claims in jurisdictions supervised

    Qualifications

    Experience:

    • Must have:
      • Minimum of 5 years’ experience handling complex commercial insurance claims including litigation management
      • Possess a thorough knowledge of applicable law, policy coverage and litigation experience in commercial auto and commercial general liability environment
      • Have expert knowledge of contractual law, policy coverage and damage evaluation
      • Proven skills to effectively and positively influence others through strong negotiation techniques

     

    • Preferred to have:
      • Experience in coverage regarding additional insured and coverage exposures
      • Currently a member of a litigation unit working on high exposure/loss and complex claims

     

    Education Requirements:

    • Must have a 4 year college degree from an accredited college or university; or an equivalent combination of education, including insurance designations, and related work experience
