    The Reinsurance Accountant is responsible for creating, developing, analyzing and maintaining data used in the preparation of financial statements, examinations, regulatory reporting, and reinsurance contract renewals, and claim recoveries from reinsurers as determined by specific reinsurance contracts in force at time of loss.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain reinsurance records for all companies within the group.
    • Prepare annual statement reinsurance schedules and exhibits for the group.
    • Prepare monthly and annual reports for statement reporting.
    • Excess reinsurance recording, calculation and collection.
    • Prepare reconciliations.
    • Work with auditors & examiners to supply needed information.
    • Monitor reinsurance claims and premiums
    • Report and support catastrophe recoveries to reinsurers and follow up on collections.
    • Use experience and knowledge to contribute to various related areas as the need arises

    Qualifications

    • Four-year degree in accounting, business, or finance.
    • Have or willingness to acquire Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
    • Insurance background, experience with reinsurance helpful, underwriting knowledge helpful
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
