    UFG is looking to add an Associate Commercial Line Underwriter to our team.

     

    As an Associate Underwriter you'll:  Analyze and evaluate commercial risks by applying knowledge of the technical aspect of commercial insurance.  Review, accept, reject and modify agency submissions, renewals, endorsements and other requests in accordance with Company guidelines and standards and communicate these decisions in a clear, concise manner.  Maintain effective agency relations in a professional manner.

    Responsibilities

    • Review and evaluate risks and coverages of new and/or existing commercial lines requests adhering to sound insurance principles and Company guidelines
    • Participate in the issuance of policies
    • Communicate with agents concerning the decisions of submissions, the explanation of new and existing products and services as well as other data relevant to departmental activities
    • Work with agents and CSR’s to obtain a saleable program for the agent/insured while avoiding adverse selection against the company
    • Maintain accurate file documentation of decisions made
    • Apply proper judgment in the pricing of products within the predetermined authorization and ensure proper documentations for risks requiring managerial authorizations
    • Assist in developing new products which contribute to growth and profits
    • Assist Marketing Department in achieving and relaying Company goals and new products or procedures internally and by agency visitation

    Qualifications

    • Must have, or be working towards, your INS or AU
    • Preferred to have a four-year college degree or equivalent insurance experience
    • Must have knowledge of commercial insurance forms and coverages
