UFG is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to add to our team.


This position will be an integral member of the External Financial Reporting team. General responsibilities will include support of SEC filings, external press releases and consolidated GAAP financial statements. Assist in coordinating quarterly review and annual audit process with external auditors. Role will also include cross-functional collaboration with various departments and continuous improvement initiatives.





  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated GAAP financial statements and related footnotes for inclusion in quarterly and annual SEC filings (including benefit plans and other statutory reports), ensuring compliance with all reporting and disclosure requirements under US GAAP and the SEC
  • Assist in coordinating quarterly review process and annual audit process with external auditors
  • Assist with the preparation of financial presentations for various audiences
  • Assist Investor Relations and support preparation of financial communications, including press releases
  • Assist with research on technical accounting topics, writing accounting position papers and implementation of new accounting standards
  • Interface with senior finance leadership team, outside auditors and attorneys, legal, tax and treasury departments
  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives that increase the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of all external reporting deliverables
  • Other job related duties as assigned 



  • Requires a BA/BS in Accounting – MBA/CPA certification preferred.
  • Requires 8+ years of experience, experience working in a publicly traded company in a similar capacity for preparing audited US GAAP financial statements and preparing SEC filings preferred.
  • Experience in insurance/financial services industry preferred.
  • Requires strong working knowledge of GAAP, SEC, FASB and technical accounting pronouncements.
  • Experience working with Workiva Wdesk preferred or similar cloud based SEC reporting software.
  • Excellent computer skills, with strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter who shows initiative.
  • Strong work ethic and sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes.
  • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with all levels and functions in the organization.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must be flexible, organized and able to accurately work under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
