UFG’s claims trainee program is an entry level opportunity for motivated individuals with the desire to become a valued member of our claims team. This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in fiedlity & surety bonds claims.  You will learn all aspects of claims following UFG’s best practices.  The training program will occur in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at our corporate headquarters.  Upon completion the incumbent will transition into a surety claims representative.





  • Review correspondence and receive surety commercial and claim notices by telephone or electronically.
  • Analyze and review surety bond claims.    
  • Investigate surety bondclaims
  • Review bond forms for coverage, contract specifications and requirements, penalties and timeliness

  • Decide on a course of action and implement
  • Pursue salvage and subrogation                                    




  • Four year college degree
  • Desire to learn, develop and understand claims practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Related claims or insurance experience preferred
  • Must have the ability to stay organized and prioritize multiple assignments
