The Employee Relations Specialist provides support to the human resources department, Managers, Supervisors & Employees. The primary duties include but are not limited to new employee orientation, coordination of company events, community service champion, recruiting and staffing efforts through ICIMS, providing support to employees and leaders on human resources policies/procedures, as well as assisting in the coordination and implementation of numerous human resources initiatives and programs.


Employee Support

  • Provide human resources support to the organization by responding to employee questions including but not limited to benefits, payroll, policies/procedures, and personnel information.
  • Serve as primary contact to initiate system access requests for new hires and departures.
  • Serve as backup to switchboard, postal center and training area.
  • Assist human resources administrator, talent acquisition partner and managers and supervisors, as needed
  • Participate in career fairs, implement special reports, projects, and assignments designed to meet department operational needs.

 New Employee Orientation

  • Coordinate pre-hire tasks with new employee and manager prior to employees first day
  • Schedule and coordinate travel and hotel arrangements with new employees if necessary
  • Coordinate orientation with hiring manager and provide guidance on new hire processes and procedures
  • Create new hire packets and welcome packets
  • Plan and deliver first day orientation with new employee ensuring the completion of required new hire paperwork
  • Coordinate training schedules for new hires
  • Ensure I-9 and e-verify is completed correctly, audit I-9’s annual to remain compliant and reduce risk if audited
  • Lead and enhance new employee ambassador (mentoring) program.

 Event Coordinator

  • Plan, organize and lead company events including but not limited to Fun Club activities, holiday luncheons, tgwmi, retiree luncheons, take your child to work day, employee appreciation week, United Way, etc.

Community Service

  • Serve as primary human resource contact for all community service and fundraising efforts
  • Organize and maintain community service/volunteer hours for employees



  • Implement Staffing Requisitions for approvals in ICIMS
  • Post job openings on website, careers builders, etc. working with talent acquisition partner
  • Schedule interviews with applicants and the Managers/Supervisors
  • Send out elimination letters and offer letters
  • Schedule and register for career fairs at local colleges


  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in a business related discipline
  • 2+ years of human resources experience in lieu of degree.
  • Basic knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Experience with HR programs such as on-boarding, engagement initiatives, policy interpretation/administration
  • Ability to handle confidential matters in a mature and responsible manner
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to handle information and data with confidentiality
