Overview

OPPORTUNITY SNAPSHOT:

In this high impact role located in our downtown Phoenix, Arizona office, you will be able to show off your skills in analyzing and evaluating commercial E&S risks by applying your knowledge and valuable experience of the technical aspects of commercial insurance.  You will be responsible for reviewing, accepting, rejecting and modifying broker submissions, renewals, endorsements and other requests and communicate these decisions in a clear, concise manner.  Enjoy the professional success of being a champion in building and maintaining rewarding and effective brokerage relationships. Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a commercial underwriting territory of $3 to $5 million
  • Attain positive results for premium growth and acceptable loss ratios, through sound risk selection
  • Review and evaluate risks and coverages of new and/or existing commercial lines requests adhering to insurance principles and Company guidelines
  • Participate in the issuance of policies
  • Communicate with brokers concerning the decisions of submissions, the explanation of new and existing products and services as well as other data relevant to departmental activities
  • Work with brokers to obtain a saleable program for the broker/insured while avoiding adverse selection against the company
  • Maintain accurate file documentation of decisions made
  • Apply proper judgment in the pricing of products within the predetermined authorization and ensure proper documentations for risks requiring managerial authorizations
  • Assist in developing new products which contribute to growth and profits
  • Assist Marketing Department in achieving and relaying Company goals and new products or procedures internally and by brokerage visitation

Qualifications

  • Must have, or working towards, AU and/or CPCU designation(s)
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent insurance experience
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance forms and coverages
  • Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience
  • Prior E&S underwriting experience preferred
  • Familiar with both primary and excess casualty underwriting and pricing
